About Leola
Leola Gravley, native of Southern California, is both a Music Educator and a Performer specializing in Percussion.
Leola has been pursuing music since she was seven years old, and she specifically began specializing in percussion when she entered high school at age fourteen. She was a member of the Front Ensemble in her school’s marching band/drumline from 2016-2020, serving as a Drum Captain and collecting several accolades in competitions hosted by the California State Band Championships (CBSC) and the Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA).
Leola began her studies at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in Fall 2020 and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education in December 2023, studying classical percussion under the instruction of Aaron Smith. She has participated in a variety of ensembles, most notably CSUN’s Wind Ensemble (having experience as the principal Percussionist) and Percussion Ensemble. Leola has also participated in CSUN's NAfME collegiate chapter, climbing the ranks from being a general member, percussion representative, to her highest ranking as Vice President. Additionally, Leola is a recipient of the Colburn Foundation Classical Music Scholarship and a two time recipient of the Ella Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarship in Music Education.
Currently, Leola still attends CSUN as a graduate student, working towards earning her Teaching Credential and gaining experience working in public schools.
